tiny newsletter edition #8: bits & pieces in a scary time

hi friends,

how are you doing? watching russia invade ukraine is tragic and terrifying and the #1 thing on my mind. i've been finding the daily's morning coverage helpful for at least baseline info, and am going to this zoom event on saturday to learn from an american-ukrainian historian about ukraine's decades-long struggle to have a nation of its own. sharing here in case you're looking for resources too!

i'm (obviously!!!) not an expert in any of this and can't claim to know how best to act. but, while we watch this unfold in real time, i'd still like to highlight joy when and where it exists, and that's what the rest of this tiny will express. if that's not where you're at right now, i'm sending love your way.

on monday and tuesday this week, i...

πŸ“Ί watched northern exposure. it's a '90s comedy/drama about a young jewish doctor who, in order to have his medical school debt paid off, goes to work in alaska for a few years. the plot highlights how unprepared he is for this new life (there's a lot of good character growth!!). i rented the dvd from my local library, but this links to the free pilot! the vibe is fun family show.

🍠 ate this surprisingly tasty veggie burger. i love vegetables but have always found veggie burgers disappointing. in a recommendation that shocks no one more than me, this millet/kale/sweet potato option has become the reliable backbone of my wfh lunches. do you have a go-to lunch these days? lmk!

πŸ—žοΈ read this interview with laurie santos. you may know her as yale's happiness professor! in this conversation, she shares about the anxiety she sees in her students and the societal structures (or the lack thereof) around fulfillment. i especially appreciated the not-so-surprising gem she drops about long-lasting happiness – it takes work!

~ bonus section ~

β˜• sweet treat β˜• before winter ends, i'd like to try this hot chocolate. the packaging is great, and i can't get over the name cocoa grizzly!! have you had anything from chamberlain coffee? send me your review!

πŸ’Œ and that's the tiny letter! thank you for reading, xo aud  and that's the tiny letter! thank you for reading, xo aud
