tiny newsletter edition #7: big thoughts, fun things

hi, hello, happy friday!

it’s snowing like mad here in michigan, it’s so beautiful! the type of snow globe weather that’s lovely to watch come down. is it true deep winter where you are too?

this week i…

💭 thought a lot about motherhood. and parenthood in general. do you have interest in becoming a parent one day, a confident yes or no or are you also a maybe? i’d love to hear. i’ve always seen myself as a future mother, but is that what i want or is that what i’d just assumed i’d do? this all bubbled up via this podcast episode and a piece of this article (jia tolentino’s latest!).

👩🏻‍🍳 baked madeleines! once upon a time, i considered this my signature cookie, a phrase i now find cringe-y, but the point is that i’ve made these at least 50x, always with excellent results. this time, i tried swapping in gf flour and vegan butter and it worked just as well! i use a madeleine tin for the full effect.

👀 browsed the met’s open access. right on their site, you can download files of tens of thousands of their works to print out and enjoy for free. what a cool initiative! i especially loved this sweet valentine.

🛋️ how to find a therapist 🛋️ if you're interested, here are simple steps from friend of the newsletter, erica gardner. this worked v well for me (i'm 6 weeks into it, highly recommend) and i hope it'll help you too!

  1. go to psychologytoday.com -> find a therapist -> enter your location -> filter by your insurance / specific issue, if you’d like.

  2. read through the profiles and see what speaks to you. contact them directly through the website’s portal and they will email you back. be straightforward!

  3. they will probably schedule a 30 min phone consultation, where you can get a sense if you’d feel comfortable talking to them or not.

  4. if you do, you’ll fill out their paperwork and schedule the first appointment. you’ll have to get them up to speed the first few sessions.

  5. if not, nbd! you can email them to say thanks / no thanks. keep looking!

  6. and remember, you can always switch therapists if you aren’t happy with who you’re talking to anymore.

💌 and that’s the tiny letter! thank you for reading, xo aud
