tiny newsletter edition #30: may i suggest watching the rehearsal this weekend?
hello from edinburgh!
i'm here to cheer on friend of the newsletter eleonora saravalle as she performs her one-woman show dried apricots at the edinburgh fringe festival! go nora go!!!
i left nyc wed night on my v first red eye. before that, this week i...
πΊ watched the rehearsal. in it, comedian nathan fielder helps real people explore big social decisions by setting up extremely intricate simulations to test (lol, rehearse) potential outcomes beforehand. for every moment my jaw dropped at its absurdity β it feels like televised performance art β my heart swelled for the production team at hbo who helped him commit so deeply to the bit. 5 stars!
π read lessons in chemistry. this work of fiction centers on elizabeth zott, a brilliant chemist in 1960s california stuck in a deeply sexist world. throw in love, rowing, death, hosting a cooking show, a genius child, a dog named six-thirty, and taking american housewives seriously when no one else did, and you get a lovely afternoon reading this book.
π§ listened to blonde by maisie peters. this summery pop song features the lyric "i'll fuck your life up as a blonde" that posits blonde as a lifestyle rather than a hair color. thank goodness bcuz i'll never go blonde. a) i can't pull it off and b) imagine the maintenance!!

π΄π» neighbor news π΄π» i live in a tiny building with 5 other people, and one of them is a 80something yr old man named cecil. this week, he gave me his second copy of a 1976 cookbook that used to be daisy's, his girlfriend of 40 years who passed away. recipes include gelatin molds and creative uses for cucumbers. altogether it was just so sweet, and also, so sad. are you also fascinated by your neighbors or is it just me?
π and that's the tiny letter! thank you for reading, xo aud
