tiny newsletter edition #20: home improvements

hi friends!

how's it going? over here, i've been getting my apartment in order. while no one should be putting me on hgtv, i thought it'd be fun to share the small space hacks and upgrades i've been implementing.

this week, i...

🧺 hid my wifi in a basket. the way my router and modem looked sitting out with all the wires was driving me crazy! this place is too small for clutter, you can see everything. i put all of it in this big woven basket and voila! much better.

🔌 added an outlet to my front hall closet. s/o to my dad for this idea!! did you know that there's a socket adapter that turns any lightbulb into an outlet? i didn't! my bathroom doesn't have any outlets and i didn't know where i'd be able to use my revlon brush. there was already a mirror attached to my closet door, and now there's a spot for my brush to be plugged in too.

🧤 kept my kitchen gloves dry. i hate when kitchen cleaning gloves stay wet, ick! but in my tiny kitchen, there's not a great spot to hang them up. my not-so-elegant-but-totally-functional solution is this command hook and binder clip combo inside the under the sink cabinet. bada bing bada boom!

~ bonus section ~

🛀🏻 how to re-caulk your bathtub 🛀🏻 this is a great way to spruce up an old tub. my dad and i did it together and now i can say from experience that it's truly not hard at all!

     1. buy caulk and a metal scraping tool.
     2. use the metal scraping tool to remove all of the current caulk. chip away at it using the sharp corner of your tool and the caulk will come off in long strips.
     3. tape above and below where you want the new caulk to go with painter's tape.
     4. cut open the tube of caulk and like you're icing a cake, pipe all along the whole tub.
     5. smooth the caulk out with your pointer finger in one big swoop.
     6. carefully remove all of the tape. admire your handiwork!
     7. wash your hands in cold water to get off any caulk and wait 24 hrs to use your shower/tub. that's it, you're done, you did it!

💌 and that's the tiny letter! thank you for reading, xo aud
