tiny newsletter edition #23: artist-in-residence
hi friends,
i know i might seem like audrey, but SURPRISE (the first caps in tiny history), i'm not! madeline, tiny's first guest writer-in-residence, reporting for duty!! i'm staying at audrey's perfect pink palace for the month of june and we are up to all sorts of nonsense that she has welcomed me to share with all of you. the honor of a lifetime!
the best nonsense:
📬 custom stationary! did you know audrey has her own stationary? when i arrived at the pink palace, i was greeted with a note pointing me towards a baguette and some butter, and boy does that make a girl feel special.
🍨 banana splits! on our first full day in the city together, we ended the night with a shared banana split at the loeb boathouse in central park as we watched the sun go down. bananas make bowls of ice cream a pinch-me moment.
🗓️ paper calendars! sometimes gcal just can't cut it. i pulled out a ruler and 11x17 sheet of paper and went to town filling in our joint plans for the next month. we can stick it on the fridge and share, no calibration necessary. vive le pen!
🎨 community center art classes! on fridays, audrey and I are taking a plein art watercolor class through the 92nd st y. it's us and a bunch of older ladies painting in central park in the middle of the day and it couldn't be lovelier. they know their way around a broad-brimmed hat, a sensible shoe, and are truly masterful artists to boot.
🤳 celebrity stalking! rubbernecking is a verifiable new york activity™ and it rocks. in a single day in the west village, we saw a silver fox from mad men, two internet chefs, one disgraced girl boss, and two mom bloggers and their broods (sung to the tune of the twelve days of christmas).

🏠 an ode to sitting on the stoop 🏠 there is no better way to experience new york city than sitting on a stoop. it doesn't need to be your stoop, it doesn't need to be the most beautiful stoop in the city, it just needs to be a few stairs where you can plop down and immerse yourself in the flow of a neighborhood for a spell. bring a book, bring a friend, bring a bottle of wine for pete's sake! you'll meet more dogs than you could ever imagine and make up one hundred stories about stranger's lives. it's the best.
💌 and that's the tiny letter! thanks for having me aud et. al, xo madel
