tiny newsletter #64: we lost the cranbrook mini golf design competition
hi friends!
do you remember the cranbrook (aka ck) putt putt course from tiny #34? if not, last summer my high school's art museum put up a ck-themed mini golf course that blew my mind.
so when i saw a call for community submissions to expand the course, i knew i had to apply.
i called up fotn natalie bolton, who i met at ck in the 8th grade, and in a global collab across time zones and oceans (she lives in tokyo), we designed a new putt putt hole.
our concept, titled “greenway of friendship", was based on the gateway of friendship. it's an octagonal cement plaque on campus that ck students never step foot on, as according to legend, you'll lose a friend if you do.
with natalie’s illustration, my write up, and an attempt to use the ck art museum's official font to make the judges feel like our design already fit in, we felt p good about our odds.
alas, winners (1, 2) have been announced – not us. but hey! it's not always about winning (we are a little bitter). here's our official proposal, if you'd like to see (and tell us if we’re justified!!).
either way, i’m going on 14 yrs of friendship w nat! tgd we never stepped on that plaque.
💌 and that's the tiny letter! thank you for reading, xo aud
