tiny newsletter #45: welcome back december!

hello hello,

it's officially december, the month of holiday cheer! obvi i'm jewish and hanukkah's pretty low key. but i'm a sucker for xmas decor and can't wait to go see the decked-out store displays and all of the lights.

this week, i...

🎧 listened to this wendy macnaughton: putting on your art eyes podcast. wendy is a visual artist who hosts the online kids art class draw together and is esp well-known for illustrating salt, fat, acid, heat. she also quit drawing for 10 yrs! her advice on starting again? "keep making crappy stuff! and keep putting it out there so you can't be as precious with everything." ty for this rec, fotn eliza cuevas!

🐟 made tuna salad with fennel, apple, and parsley. i'm always looking for tasty lunch ideas that are quick and easy, and this recipe is coming up on top. no mayo here, just 5 mins of chopping and mixing. eat w toast or rye crisps!

💉 booked my flu shot. have you gotten yours yet? this is a psa that it's not too late! if you aren't sure where to go, you can snag an appt at a cvs or walgreens near you. same goes for your covid booster. protect yourself and each other – 'tis the sick season.

🚌 an ode to field trips 🚌 months ago i signed up for caroline weaver's orchard street reading society, a bi-monthly book club that includes a thematic field trip here in nyc. caroline is the former shopkeeper of c.w. pencil enterprise (and obwdyd interviewee!) and it turns out she's also a wonderful host.

on wed fotn eleonora saravalle and i went to our first meetup to watch harriet the spy in a movie theater and then headed over to caroline's apt for tomato sandwiches, the protagonist's fav food. she even gave us all a spy notebook and a custom sticker!

this event was a lovely reminder that field trips aren't just for kids, and that there's real magic in organizing one for friends and strangers alike. and regardless, you can always combine this movie and sandwich for a v wholesome night.

💌 and that's the tiny letter! thank you for reading, xo aud
