tiny newsletter #134: phil + estelle weigh in

hello hello!

hi from michigan! i'm home this week w my grandparents who (drumroll plz) are 95 (nanna) and a v new 98 (poppa). they're in such good health, ppl often guess they're 15+ yrs younger.

on the excellent rec of friend of the newsletter stu o'neil, i asked for any advice they had to share. here's what they had to say...

โค๏ธ โ€œone of the most importance decisions i made [for longevity] was marrying for my life's companion your nanna. i think about how much aggravation i'd had if i married someone else! select a person who is going to be compatible, parallel with you." -poppa

nanna agreed and added, โ€œa nice question you can ask yourself is, โ€˜is this who you would like to be growing old with 50 yrs from now?'" โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ’„ when it comes to other favs, nanna wears this orange-red lipstick everyday, โ€œi get nervous when i'm down to my last tube" and is a planner. โ€œbefore you go to bed, make a list of what you hope to do the next day - it works! otherwise you forget what you meant to do."

๐Ÿ—ž๏ธ my poppa (whose biz is men's clothing stores fwiw) refused to share any specific item lol, โ€œi like a variety of things" but highly recs the economist. โ€œevery issue's got you thinking and gives you a different perspective on so many different things."

both said their actual #1 was when their grandchildren call, haha. โ€œthat's a special thrill" -poppa. love them sm, lucky to have this time together. i will lyk if poppa drops another rec!!

๐Ÿ’Œ and that's the tiny letter! enjoy the long wknd + thank you for reading. xo aud
