tiny newsletter #92: tokyo details
hello helloooo,
i've spent this week in tokyo w friends of the newsletter (fotn) natalie and julia bolton, sisters i've known and loved since middle school.
nat and i are off to naoshima and kyoto today, guides and recs tk. but in the meantime, tokyo is a city full of visual treats. i keep spotting...
🏪 illustrative signs. works of art that lyk what's inside, like a brush on a calligraphy shop, paperclip on a stationary store, and pufferfish and takoyaki on respective restaurants.
⭕ combination locks instead of keys. a sleek look and also quite handy, losing miniscule mail keys is not an issue here. they're in office lobbies and apt buildings too (1, 2, 3).
🌡️ temperature choices. cafes offer both cold and room temp water options and the subway has “mildly" and “moderately" ac'd cars. such emphasis on comfort and conservation, wow.
i saw the combo locks w fotn fiona chu, who was in town from seoul at the same time!! days w old friends i rarely see irl feel like a dream, can't believe i'm here for 8 more.
💌 and that's the tiny letter! sending a hug from tmrw and tysm for reading, xo aud
