tiny newsletter #127: rafel fam's seattle spots

hi friends,

i’m omw back from seattle rn, i was visiting fotn lwam rafel and her fam! it was my first time staying w friends w kids for a few days and so i went into it completely diff than usual: no research, no reservations, zero plans but to be on their schedule.

this was a great tactic!! i adore their kids, asher (6) and sloane (4), and they are also a perf lesson in living in the moment cuz that’s truly all you can do. here's a few recs i loved courtesy of my fav seattle natives. ty for having me, rafels!!

in seattle, i…

🍨 ate ice cream at molly moon’s. seattle's og homemade ice cream company that has locations all over town. i loooved the strawberry and their next-level toppings (i got lemon curd + strawberry hardshell coated marshmallows!).

🌊 walked the beach on bainbridge island. there are quite a few islands around seattle that are easy to access by ferry. this one's a 35 min ride away and the beach was excellent for collecting seaglass and feeling the breeze.

🍝 ate homemade pasta at spinasse. we split a few and all were delicious, but their tajarin (v similar to angel hair) w a butter and sage sauce was spectacular. it's the best version i've ever had of exactly what this sounds like.

🎵 learned about the happy song by imogen heap. it was (creepily? brilliantly?) designed to be a compilation of sounds that make kids happy. i've never seen a child go from screaming to smiling so fast lol, rly do rec.

if i were to go back, i'd scope out kenji lopez-alt's map of food recs, go to chihuly garden and glass, hike at mount rainier national park, and try on sweaters at glasswing. next time!!

💌 and that's the tiny letter! thank you for reading, xo aud
