tiny newsletter #108: 3 course tuesday
hello helloooo,
sometimes i forget dinner is a made up concept. my gut reaction is like hm, i guess i’ll make a grain and vegetables of some sort. a protein on top maybe??
but on tuesday, fotn eleonora saravalle and i went on a nonsensical dinner adventure. and now i'm here to rec this nutty approach!
the menu:
🌭 course 1: franks & papaya juice at gray’s papaya. open since 1973, this upper west side establishment serves hot dogs and tropical juices. i'm not a hot dog fan but i had to admit this was a perfect/ridiculous combo. our fastest, cheapest ($6.45 total) stop.
🔥 course 2: baked alaska at nat’s on bank. have you had this dessert before? i hadn't and wanted to try - it's a cake (here, almond) with ice cream on top (here, chocolate + pistachio), covered in fresh meringue that's toasted live!! exceedingly sweet, but v fun to eat.
🍅 course 3: focaccia at superiority burger. this vegan diner in the east village turns out great, surprising flavors. we split a meyer lemon + scallion and a tomato + oregano. tomato was the winner and the vibes here are superb. fyi their foccacia is avail at the back bar only!
3 neighborhoods, the bus and the subway, and i was asleep by 11:30 – perfect. write me back and tell me about your fav adventure meal, plz?? cheers to dinner, whatever you want it to be!
💌 and that's the tiny letter! thank you for reading, xo aud
